NDIS core supports in every state and territory

What are the NDIS price limits for 2026-27?

Short answer

From 1 July 2026, the national NDIS price limit for standard self-care support on a weekday daytime is $73.58 an hour, up about 4.8% from $70.23. Evening, night, weekend and public holiday rates are higher. Price limits are maximums, so providers can charge less. Check ndis.gov.au for current figures.

What is an NDIS price limit?

An NDIS price limit is the highest amount a provider can charge for a support item. The NDIA sets these limits each year in its pricing arrangements.

Price limits protect your budget. A provider can charge you less than the limit, but they cannot charge more for that support.

The limits apply nationally, with higher limits for remote and very remote areas. They are usually updated on 1 July each year.

Each support has its own item in the NDIS support catalogue, with a name, a number and a price limit. Your provider uses these items when they claim payment from your plan.

What are the 2026-27 price limits for daily living support?

The 2026-27 national price limits for standard self-care support start at $73.58 an hour on weekday daytimes and rise for evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.

The table below shows some of the most common core support items from the 2026-27 NDIS Pricing Schedule, effective 1 July 2026.

Update, October 2026: on 24 September 2026 the Minister for the NDIS made the first legal pricing determination under the new NDIS rules. It turned these price limits into law but did not change the amounts. The NDIA has said the schedule will be updated later in the year to reflect the Fair Work Commission decision on disability support wages, which takes effect on 1 December 2026. We will update this article when that happens.

Support itemTimePrice limit per hour
Assistance With Self-Care Activities, StandardWeekday daytime$73.58
Assistance With Self-Care Activities, StandardWeekday evening$81.07
Assistance With Self-Care Activities, StandardWeekday night$82.57

Assistance With Self-Care Activities, High IntensityWeekday daytime$79.60
Access Community Social and Rec Activities, StandardWeekday daytime$73.58
Assistance with Personal Domestic ActivitiesAny time$61.16

High intensity rates apply when a worker needs extra skills to deliver complex supports. Community access covers help to take part in social and recreational activities, and domestic activities cover household tasks like cleaning and laundry.

These are national maximums. Always check the current NDIS pricing arrangements on ndis.gov.au before you plan your budget, as items and rules can change.

How much did NDIS prices change from 2025-26?

The main daily living price limits rose by about 4.8% from 2025-26. The weekday daytime self-care rate went from $70.23 to $73.58 an hour.

This increase helps cover rising costs such as worker wages. For you, it means each hour of support uses slightly more of your budget than it did last year.

If your plan started before 1 July 2026, your hours may stretch a little less far than you expected. It is a good time to check your spending.

A quick way to check is to look at how much you have spent so far, how many weeks are left in your plan and how many hours you use each week. If the numbers look tight, talk with your provider or plan manager early, before funds run low.

Do remote areas have higher price limits?

Yes. Remote and very remote areas have higher price limits to reflect the extra cost of delivering supports there.

For example, the weekday daytime limit for standard self-care support is $103.01 an hour in remote areas and $110.37 an hour in very remote areas.

Whether these limits apply depends on where you live, based on the NDIA's remoteness classification. Your provider or plan manager can confirm which rate applies to you.

How do you read the prices in your service agreement?

Your service agreement should list each support, its NDIS support item, the hourly rate and when it will be delivered. Compare each rate with the price limit for that item and time.

Things to check in your agreement:

  • The support item name and number for each service.
  • The hourly rate, and whether it differs for evenings, weekends or public holidays.
  • Any travel charges and how they are worked out.
  • Short notice cancellation rules.
  • How often you will be invoiced.

If something is unclear, ask the provider to explain it before you sign. Your support coordinator or plan manager can also help.

Once supports start, compare each invoice with your agreement. Check that the dates, hours and rates match what you agreed, and ask about anything that looks different.

How can you estimate your support hours from your budget?

To estimate your hours, divide your budget by the hourly rate you will be charged. Then divide by the number of weeks in your plan to get a weekly figure.

Here is a worked example:

  1. You have $20,000 for Assistance with Daily Life.
  2. Your supports are on weekdays during the day, charged at the $73.58 price limit.
  3. $20,000 divided by $73.58 is about 271.8 hours, so around 271 hours in total.
  4. 271 hours divided by 52 weeks is about 5.2 hours a week.

Weekend shifts change the picture. The same $20,000 at the Saturday limit of $103.54 buys about 193 hours, because each hour costs more.

If you use a mix of times, work out each type separately and add them together. For example, three weekday daytime hours and one Saturday hour each week cost about $324.28 a week ($220.74 plus $103.54). Over 52 weeks, that comes to about $16,863.

Remember to leave some room in your budget for things like public holidays, travel charges or extra shifts when you are unwell. Our NDIS support hours calculator can do the maths for you.

Frequently asked questions

Can a provider charge more than the price limit?

No. The price limit is the maximum for that support item. A provider can agree to charge you less, but charging more for a support with a price limit is not allowed under the NDIS pricing arrangements.

Why do weekend and public holiday shifts cost more?

Workers receive higher pay for working evenings, weekends and public holidays. The price limits for those times are higher to reflect this, so each hour uses more of your budget.

Does my plan funding go up when price limits rise?

Not automatically for every plan. The NDIA may adjust some plans when prices change, but it depends on your situation. Check your current budget in the my NDIS portal or ask your plan manager.

Where can I find the full list of price limits?

The full list is in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits document and the support catalogue on ndis.gov.au. These cover every support item, including the ones not shown in this article.

This article is general information, not advice about your plan. NDIS rules and price limits change, so check ndis.gov.au or talk to your NDIS contact for current details. Last reviewed 5 October 2026.
